About NPLN | NPLN-L Listserv
The Northeastern Pennsylvania Library Network (NPLN) is Pennsylvania's first, and oldest, consortium of academic, public and special libraries.
NPLN's academic and public libraries have a long tradition of sharing resources. The consortium was established in 1956 for the purpose of making books and other materials available to residents through an interlibrary loan system. NPLN's member libraries and/or institutions include: Baptist Bible College, College Misericordia, East Stroudsburg University, Johnson Technical Institute, Keystone College, King's College, Luzerne County Community College, Luzerne County Library System, Marywood University, Lackawanna County Library System, University of Scranton, and Wilkes University .
Serving an estimated 556,000 people in Lackawanna and Luzerne Counties, the consortium has continued to foster library cooperation and increased access to library materials through open communications and direct borrowing arrangements. The NPLN endorses the Interlibrary Loan Code, participates in statewide interlibrary loan and resource sharing activities, and maintains a collaborative working relationship with the 14-member medical libraries of the Health Information Library Network of Northeastern Pennsylvania. Since 1982, NPLN has been supplying and coordinating education programs for libraries, librarians and library support staff in Northeastern Pennsylvania.
