BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETING

Those present: Bill Calhoon, Marywood University; Bonnie Oldham, Osterhout Free Library; David Schappert, East Stroudsburg University; Cathy Schappert, Marywood University; Kevin Connelly, Keystone College; Narda Tafuri, University of Scranton; Michelle Sitko, Marywood University; Mia Bassham, Luzerne Community College; Linda Neyer, University of Scranton.

The meeting convened at 9:00 AM. With less than a quorum, it was established that no voting on the by-laws could occur. Bill Calhoon suggested that we have a Board of Directors meeting next January to vote on any necessary matters.

Bill also mentioned that Brodart is interested in a cooperative purchasing arrangement with NPLN for library supplies, equipment, and furniture. They are offering a 15% discount for the entire year through Palinet. Someone asked whether the discount would apply to book purchases, and Bill said he would inquire.

Cathy Schappert suggested to the group that we should probably begin investigating another server for NPLN's web site.

Kevin Connelly conveyed thanks from Mari Flynn to NPLN for help with system problems linking from NPLN to Keystone.

Bill Calhoon asked the group to see if someone within their institution would serve as Chairman of the Support Staff Committee as the previous chair has resigned.

It was announced that Jon Lindgren is retiring as director of the Wilkes University Library. Two interim co-directors of the Library will be appointed. Wilkes is also in the process of hiring a new provost.

The meeting adjourned at 10:10 AM.
